Why gratitude changes your brain (in 5 minutes a day)

De ce recunoștința schimbă creierul (în 5 minute pe zi)

Gratitude is not just a "pleasant" emotional state.

It is a neurological process that changes how the brain functions.

When we note the things we are grateful for:

  • the secretion of dopamine (the motivation hormone) increases

  • serotonin (the good mood hormone) stabilizes

  • cortisol (the stress hormone) decreases

The more we practice gratitude, the more the brain learns to notice the good instead of the threat. And that changes:

  • how we react to situations

  • the thoughts that appear automatically

  • the emotions that accompany our day

✨ Simple 5-minute practice

Answer these questions in your journal:

  1. What was beautiful or simple today?

  2. What did my body do for me today?

  3. Which person do I want to appreciate?

  4. What do I choose to leave behind?

Don't look for spectacular answers.

Gratitude lives in small things.

🔄 Effects after 2–3 weeks

  • the mind becomes calmer

  • excessive worry decreases

  • more self-confidence emerges

  • decisions become clearer

  • we react less impulsively

Gratitude doesn't change life externally.

It changes the way we experience it.
